 ABOUT

Founded in 1915 by Victor and Valentine Michiels, the antique store moved to the Sablon district of Brussels in 1939. The gallery was then taken over by their daughter Lydie Michiels before the latter's daughter, Monique Lemaire, left in turn takes over the management of the activity.

Lemaire helped by her husband Marcel, Monique Lemaire will then specialize in earthenware and ancient porcelain from the 17th to the 19th century. The arrival of their son Jean in this real family institution will allow the Lemaire house to continue its development thanks to its skills and seriousness.

Heir to several generations of antique sellers based in the Sablon in Brussels, Jean Lemaire has been an antique dealer specializing in earthenware and antique porcelain since 1993.
With a degree in history, he is the author of several publications including "La Porcelaine de Tournai, histoire d’une manufacture" (1999) and "Faience and porcelain from Brussels" (2003).

Jean Lemaire is particularly specialized in earthenware and ancient porcelain from Brussels, China, Sèvres and Tournai.
The Lemaire house has participated in many international fairs such as La Biennale and the Salon des Arts du Feu in Paris.
The Belgian Antiques Fair which is held at Tour et Taxis in Brussels is an unmissable event where the Lemaire house has been present since its creation.
